Connecting Math to Our Lives Math Introductions 2002-2003   GHANA: Introduction from teacher Edward Tetteh and students (ages 16-18) at Accra Academy in Accra, Ghana. Hi I am a teacher of Mathematics and Computer Studies from Ghana. I am taking part in an iEARN online course in Maths, Science and Environment. As part of my course I have registered to take part in this project - Connecting Maths to Our Lives. I have already sent a template I have drawn up and which I want to use to investigate the extent to which corruption has affected the lives of the people in my country, Ghana. Corruption, especially in high government offices, is real in Ghana. What I want my students to do is to collect data/information on corruption cases within a certain period of time (to be determined) in the country and to draw up mathematical (or statistical) links between this and government grants for development within the same period. I will be pleased if you could give me some ideas on how to go about this. I will also urge you all to go through my template and offer your suggestions and criticisms. Thank you very much. Lo que yo quiero que mis estudiantes hagan es recolectar información en muchos casos de corrupción dentro de un cierto periodo (el cual va a ser determinado) en el paÌs, y crear información matemática sobre esto y las becas del gobierno dentro de este mismo periodo.
