Problem definition:

Students will enjoy real world scenario that explores the topic of Percentage. Being the researchers how can we relate daily life examples with the concept of Percentage. Questions such as "What factors does a business consider before setting prices?" Engage students in thinking critically about Profit and Loss.

Information gathering and Sharing:

Sharing:

(i) For sharing the information they will conduct class presentations.

(ii) Share their findings as Pie graph or Bar graphs.

Generating possible solutions and determining a fit:

*Students will be able to realize the importance of Percentage in real life.
*Do the discussions.

*Handling money in real life.

*Making graphs for comparisons.

Outcomes:

(i) The Students will enjoy Mathematics.

(ii) The Students will get the opportunity to learn with their own efforts.

(iii) The students will become better problem solvers.
(iv) The students will get the idea that how important the topic of Percentage is in every field of life.
(v) The students will be able to recognize and evaluate different problems.

Curriculum Compass: The main focus of the project is to make the students to learn to apply the Mathematics in their daily lives.
Curriculum areas covered:

Fractions
Addition
Subtraction
Multiplication
Division and

Decimals

Embedded instruction activities to meet the outcomes:

Lectures:
1.What is a Percentage?
2.How to express Fractions as Percentages?
3.Difference between profit and loss.
4.How to find out Percentage profit and loss?
5.Role of Percentage in our daily lives.
6.How to construct Bar and Pie graph?
7.How to make the comparisons?

Activities:
1.Collaborating in groups and its usefulness.
2.Presentations.
3.Graphs.

Demonstration:
1.How to use reference materials?

2.How to read graphs?
3.How to interpret charts and graphs?

Discussions:
1.What is the use of Percentage in our lives?
2.Why graphs help us in comparisons?
3.Why do we know about profit and loss?

Assessment:

1.The teacher will need to monitor students. The expectation is that they will participate and stay on task.
2.Mcq's, quizzes, word problems will be given to assess the students.
3.The teacher will observe the student's ability to work independently and in groups.
4.The teacher will grade student's presentations according to a rubric.

Debriefing the problem/process:

Debriefing is a very constructive tool because it will help the students to have a feeling of completing a task as well as it will recall their memories. The best thing is by this project they will go in the depth of the topic where as by doing the exercises in copies they just rote the formulae, but after practical work they will get to know the topic much better and will find it interesting and it will clear to them forever.

Other concerns and/or notes:

1.The most important concern is "Time" that can be given to this project as students have to complete their curriculum and give their tests according to their already prepared time table by the administration.
2.To keep them motivated from beginning to an end.
3.Keep their findings in a proper way.

Definitely children will learn a lot more like this and that's why we call it "Learning with fun".
