Project FRESA is a collaborative
project designed by Michelle Singer and Amada Irma H. Perez.
Michelle teaches 5th grade
and Amada teaches 3rd grade. Both teachers work at Mar Vista Elementary
School in the Ocean View School District in Oxnard, California.
Together, their classes created
a multi-media, cross-curricular anthology about the relationship
between the strawberry crops that surround and sustain the local
community, environment, and economy to their lives. Specific examples
of this work in progress are: family interviews; research via
the Internet; a collection of historical and geographical information.
All of the above is being shared with their school, home, and
global community.
Project
Goals
To successfully integrate
anti-racism, critical pedagogy, community learning theory, language
acquisition, and standards with technology into a curriculum project.
To provide the medium in
which students and families may voice their daily realities.
To publish a cross-curricular
anthology through various multi-media resources.

Proyecto FRESA es una colaboración
diseñada por Michelle Singer y Amada Irma H. Pérez.
Michelle es maestra de quinto año y Amada Irma es maestra de
tercero. Las dos trabajan en la escuela primaria Mar Vista en
el distrito escolar de Ocean View en Oxnard, California. Juntas
sus clases crearon un sitio de multi-media interdisciplinario. También
hicieron un antología de la relación entre los campos
de fresa que rodean y sostienen a la comunidad local, el medio ambiente,
y la economía a sus vidas. Ejemplos específicos
de este trabajo en progreso son: entrevistas, investigación,
búsqueda de información a través de la red; y una
colección de información histórica y geográfica.
Todo lo mencionado se compartirá con los miembros de su hogar,
escuela, y la comunidad mundial.
Las metas del
proyecto
Integrar con éxito
cinco pedagogías en un proyecto curicular: metodologia anti-racismo;
pedagogía crítica; teoría del aprendizaje de la
comunidad; adquisicíon del idioma; las normas educatívas
y la tecnología.
Proveer un foro donde los estudiantes
y las familias puedan expresarse acerca de su realidad diaria.
Publicar un antología a
través de las materias usando varios recursos de multi-media.
