Women and Mathematics

Students from Lugazi, Uganda Teacher Labongo Badru Mt. St. Mary's College Namagunga Students Ages 14-18

This project aims at highlighting the problems affecting the effective training of females in the discipline of mathematics in the world today, and proposing solutions to these problems. Students engage in discussions to develop a greater understanding of these problems. A website comprosing problems and soluctions has been constructed. Dear "Connecting Math to Our Lives" friends,

The gist of the matter is to address problems that hinder the development of Women in Mathematics.

At the moment, we are engaged in a discussion focussing on a number of issues such as; Women Authors, Corporal punishment in schools, teasing/bullying, male teacher influence, women to women subbotage etc.

You can write essays on any of the issues and send it to us. Our discussion group down here will then share with you their side of the story.

In case you are ready to start on discussions, we would be happy to have you participate!

Queridos amigos del Proyecto de Matemáticas:

Nos gustaría invitarles a unirse a las discusiones sobre Las Mujeres en las Matemáticas. Hemos colocado la propuesta del proyecto en la página de la red: (Presione en  "Women in Mathematics".)

El propósito de la discusión es identificar problemas que atrasan el desarrollo de las mujeres en las matemáticas y proponer soluciones a estos.

En este momento estamos participando en una discusión que nos ha permitido enfocar en un sinnúmero de temas como: mujeres autoras, castigo corporal en las escuelas, molestar/abusar, influencia de maestros varones, sabotaje de mujer a mujer, etc. Ustedes pueden escribir ensayos sobre cualquiera de estos temas y enviarlos a nosotros. Nuestro grupo de discusión luego compartirá con ustedes nuestras aportaciones.

En caso de que ya estén listos para comenzar con este diálogo, estaremos regocijados de tenerlos participando.
