CHILE Carta de presentación de la maestra Jacqueline Alvarez V. y sus estudientes de 15-16 anos del Colegio Bautista de Concepcion Correo electronico:  alvarezvera@yahoo.com   Carta de presentación 2º Medio A y 2º Medio B, del Colegio Bautista de Concepción: Nuestro país, Chile, es el más largo y angosto del mundo.  Políticamente está dividido en 12 regiones más la Región Metropolitana, partiendo desde el norte con la Primera hasta el extremo sur por la Duodécima. Cada región se divide en provincias y cada provincia en comunas.  Nosotros estamos en el centro sur del país en la octava región, la que se extiende entre los 36º 00' y 38º 30'de latitud sur y 71º 00' longitud oeste hasta el Océano Pacífico; Vivimos en la Provincia de Concepción cuya capital se llama también Concepción. Nuestro Colegio está en la ciudad de Concepción.  Es mixto e imparte clases desde Pre kinder hasta Cuarto Medio (Cuarto año de secundaria) que es el último curso antes de seguir la educación universitaria o superior.  La principal característica de este colegio es entregar una educación orientada hacia los valores cristianos. En el 2º medio A hay 26 alumnos, 16 de ellos vive en Concepción y el resto en ciudades cercanas.  Once alumnos tienen 15 años y quince, tienen 16 años.  8 niños son evangélicos bautistas, 5 católicos, 1 judía, 8 creyentes sin adscripción y 1 se declara ateo. La mitad del curso practica deporte, siendo el más popular el futbol, otros practican básquetbol, ping-pong, voleibol y artes marciales. 11 alumnos disponen de Internet en sus casas y 15 no, 17 lo saben usar, 8 más o menos y 1 no. En el 2º Medio B hay 24 alumnos, 9 viven en Concepción y los demás en ciudades cercanas. 22 niños creen en Dios y 2 no. Cada uno tiene intereses diferentes, pero en algunos coinciden, por ejemplo, la práctica del futbol, el 100% a la educación universitaria, la mayoría es alegre y le gusta divertirse. Los temás en que deseamos trabajar son "qué significan las matemáticas para mí" y "la matemática diaria en mi comunidad". Reciban un cariñoso saludo desde Chile. Jacqueline Alvarez V. It is divided into 12 regions and a Metropolitan Region. These regions go from the First región up North to the Twelfth Región down South. Each región is divided into provinces and each province into municipalities. We are in the center of our country, in the Eighth region, between 36º 00' and 38º 30' South Latitude and between 71º 00' West and the Pacific Ocean. We live in the province of Concepción, and its capital city bears the same name. Our school is in Concepción City. In attendance are girls and boys from pre-Kinder to the fourth year of Senior High, the last year before University or College. The main feature of our school is giving an educatión supportive of Christian values. In our class there are 26 pupils, 16 live in Concepción and the rest in nearby towns. Eleven of them are 15 years old and fifteen are 16 years old. Eight of them are Evangelical Baptists, 5 are Catholics, one girl is Jewish, 8 have other religious beliefs and one is an atheist. Half of the class play some sport, with soccer being the most popular. Other students play basketball, table-tennis, volleyball or practice martial arts. Eleven students have Internet at home, and 15 don't. Seventeen know how to use it, 8 are vaguely familiar with it, and one doesn't know a thing. In 2º Medio B there are 24 pupils, 9 live in Concepción and the rest in nearby towns. Twenty two kids believe in God and 2 don't. Each has different interests, but on some things they agree: for example, many have an interest in playing soccer and 100 % of the students want to go on to study at a university. Almost all are cheerful people and like to have fun.
